2009/10 St George Rowing Club Boatshed

Club Mission: To be the best Community Rowing Club in Australia.

Location: St George's boatshed in on Scylla Bay is on the eastern side of the Como football ovals. We row to Kogarah Bay in the east, Picnic Point in the west and up the Woronora River in the south. So depending on your ability, you can row for a quarter of an hour to over an hour before turning to retrace your journey. The Georges River is far more suitable to boating than any other river in Sydney with minimal traffic and very good shelter from both wind and waves.

Boatshed: St George has all types of boats available to all its members. These include ultra safe trainers for beginners, through to competitive racing boats of all types from singles to eights. We also have a fully equipped rowing gym with ergos, spin bikes and weights.

Rowing Times: Members can row train in the gym from early morning to late at night. The most popular boating times are Saturday and Sunday mornings from about 6:30 to 9:30 am.

Variety: St George provides support to all levels of rowers suitable to their abilities. Our active members range in age from 14 to 84. These include beginners through to elite athletes competing at national and international levels.

Interested: Come down to the boatshed and join us any Saturday or Sunday morning. All you need, is the ability to swim capably, ideally up to 500 meters. We can teach you the rest.

Learn to Row program: St George provides formal learn to row programs throughout the year. If you are interested please contact us and we can advise you when the next program is scheduled.

We hope to see you on the water bending those blades…
